The Exhibition Centre is on the same site as Donington Park Grand Prix Motor Racing Circuit and Motor Museum, Donington Park, Castle Donington, in North Leicestershire although the postal address is Derby. DE74 2RP .It is close to the point where the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire meet. It is close to J23A and J24 of the M1 motorway and the East Midlands International Airport being less than 5 minutes drive from junction 23A of the M1 motorway and 3 minutes from the East Midlands International Airport.

   

Getting to the Leicester Amateur Radio Show by Car

CARE   If your road map is not up to date care is required. Following the
opening of the Derby southern bypass just before last year’s Show some road
renumbering took place and the bypass is now the A50. The old A50 was
renumbered and the A6 is now in a different place and does not come to Jct
24. Take care - you have been warned! –see map below for details

From the South via M1:

Leave the M1 at junction 23A following the signs for East Midlands Airport (A453) and the brown tourist signs for Donington Park.  Go past the main entrance to the Airport (traffic lights) and after approximately 2 miles take a right signposted Donington Park and Castle Donington   onto the B5460.  300 meters along this road brings you to the main entrance of Donington Park.  Follow the internal signs to the Exhibition Centre and Radio Show.

From the North via M1:

Leave M1 at junction 24 and follow the signs for East Midlands Airport (A453) and the brown tourist signs for Donington Park.   Go past the main entrance to the Airport (traffic lights) and follow directions as above (From South via M1) .

From the Southwest take the M5 & M40 to M42 / A42:

From the M5 join the M42 Northbound.  From M40 join M42 Northbound.   Continue Northbound on M42/A42 until junction 14.  Follow signs for East Midlands Airport (A453) and the brown tourist signs to Donington Park.  Go past the Paddock Entrance and turn left after about 800 metres onto B5460 signposted Donington Park and Castle Donington.  After 300 metres turn left into the main entrance of Donington Park.  Follow the internal signs to the Exhibition Centre and Radio Show.

From the North & North-West via M6 and A50:

Leave the M6 at junction 15 heading for Trentham Gardens and Uttoxeter A50.  Follow A50 dual carriageway to M1 junction 24 DO NOT JOIN M1.  Follow the signs for East Midlands Airport (A453) and the brown tourist signs for Donington Park.  Go past the main entrance to the Airport (traffic lights) and after approximately 2 miles take a right signposted Donington Park and Castle Donington   onto the B5460.  300 meters along this road brings you to the main entrance of Donington Park.  Follow the internal signs to the Exhibition Centre and Radio Show.

·         Remember Donington Park Race Circuit and International Exhibition Centre are on the same large site.  It is located 3 miles due west of J23A off the M1.

Free Parking

Car and coach parking is vast and free. Disabled car parking is immediately outside the Exhibition Hall on right hand side. Car and coach parking is in front of the Exhibition Hall on the left hand side of the road. Please follow the directions of the car park attendants.

Getting to the Leicester Amateur Radio Show by Coach

Direct bus services by National Express to East Midlands Airport from Barnsley, Bradford, Chesterfield, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Sheffield, and Wakefield. Leicester is also served by National Express FlightLink services from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Luton Airport. More information available from National Express on 0990 80 8080.

From Derby by Bus

Service 122 or 124 from Derby main bus station stops outside Derby Railway Station traveling to Castle Donington, East Midlands Airport, Loughborough and Leicester. This is an hourly service commencing at 09.17. The last bus leaves the Airport at 17.30. It stops outside the main entrance to the race track. From Leicester by Bus

Service 122 and 124 leaves from Haymarket Bus Station traveling via Loughborough and East Midlands Airport to Derby. It stops outside the main entrance to Castle Donington race track. Further information from Leicestershire County Council Busline on 0870 608 2608.

From Loughborough by Bus

The 122 and 124 service from Leicester to Derby calls at Loughborough bus station and stops at the main entrance to Castle Donington race track after calling at East Midlands Airport.

From Loughborough Railway Station to East Midlands Airport by Bus

Free Shuttle Bus

Once at the airport look for the free Radio Show shuttle bus. As you come out of arrivals you will see the main Airport short stay car park. Cross the access roads and when you reach the other side look for the taxi pickup point which is across to the left and wait there. The minibus will take you to the Show. It will pickup at the race track entrance, the Motor Museum and the Show. It runs fro EMA on the hour and the half hour from 08.30 to 17.30 and from the  Show on the quarter to and quarter past the hour  from 08.45 to 1800  in case of difficulty give the driver ,Bill G0AIZ a call on 145.550.MHz or mobile phone 07712 660670.

Getting to the Leicester Amateur Radio Show by Air

The East Midlands Airport has connections to all major airports in the UK and Europe.   Many low cost Airlines have flights to and from the Airport and should you have your own helicopter their is a Helipad ,NOTE Free shuttle bus service will run from the Airport to the Exhibition. See above under traveling by bus.

Getting to the Leicester Amateur Radio Show by Train

From Loughborough Railway Station to East Midlands Airport

A new free phone service has been introduced at the airport which enables passengers, visitors and staff to book Midland Mainline train tickets at no extra cost.   Midland Mainline, which operates the InterCity service between Sheffield, the East Midlands and London St Pancras, will ensure that tickets are available one hour later at the departure station, or will post them to a passenger's home.  For more information ring 0345 484950.

The nearest railway stations are Loughborough and Derby on the Midland Mainline serving Bedford, Kettering, Leeds, Luton, Sheffield, Wakefield, Wellingborough, London (St Pancras) and the Continent. Central Trains from Birmingham, Lincoln, Nottingham and the South-West serve Derby. Central Trains from Cambridge and the East serve Derby, Leicester, and Loughborough. Local bus companies run buses from Derby, Leicester, Loughborough and Nottingham to the East Midlands Airport and Donington Park. For further information see under Travelling by Coach.

One stop tickets are available to passengers traveling by rail to East Midlands Airport via Loughborough station then on to the airport by shuttle bus.  The integrated ticket can be used by people traveling from key stations in the Midlands and South Yorkshire including Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Lincoln, Stoke, Nuneaton, Sheffield, Coventry and Chesterfield.  There are 29 services a day.  The journey time is 20 minutes and it costs £1.  For further info see above traveling by Bus.
